Getting to Know Bethany Phillips – SHS/STEM Library Media Specialist

A recent graduate of Simmons College, one of the premier programs for school library media specialists, Ms. Phillips holds a MA Library- Science School Library Teaching Program. Prior to attending Simmons, Ms. Phillips received her Bachelors of Arts from Holy Cross where she majored in history. Bethany’s preparation reflects on the well deserved reputation of Simmons College.  She has worked at Ventress Memorial Library in Marshfield.

Ms. Phillips answered a few questions to help the SPS community to get to know her.

What excites you about teaching in Sandwich?

Having the opportunity to work with students in both the high school and STEM Academy in the library.

What is your favorite teaching memory from the past few years?

I have great memories from my experiences working in the public library that help to inspire my work with students. I have really enjoyed teaching patrons how to use new technology tools,  and getting to know everyone in the community.

What is your favorite memory as a student?

I love to travel and learn about history so my favorite memory is when I went on a trip with the history club to Virginia and Pennsylvania to learn more about the Civil War.

What might we be surprised to know about you?

I lived in Galway, Ireland for a year.
