Introducing Myself…

by Brandy Clifford, Assistant Principal – Forestdale School

This post is from a letter that Mrs. Clifford sent to families and staff at Forestdale this summer. We are pleased to introduce Mrs. Clifford to the entire SPS Community.

It is with great pride and excitement that I have been honored with the appointment of the assistant principal for the 2014 -2015 school year. I am equally thrilled to be able to assist Mr. Smith in a year of transition for all of us.

My career as an educator began at the Forestdale School 19 years ago when my son was in Kindergarten and I was volunteering in Mrs. McArdle’s classroom.  I worked as a substitute teacher at Forestdale and was inspired to pursue  a post baccalaureate in education so I could be a “real “ teacher.  In 2001,  I began teaching at the Henry T Wing School as a Math Intervention teacher. In 2006, I earned my masters degree in Educational Leadership from Bridgewater State University.

A brief snapshot of who I am – I have been a resident of Sandwich for 28 years.  I have been married for 30 years and have 3 children – Shawn (25), Kyle (23) and Heather (20).  They are thrilled that I am here at the Forestdale School with so many of their cherished teachers and support staff.

In my spare time  I love the beach,  skiing, and  kayaking,  I am an avid reader and love to share what book I am currently reading!

I am excited to bring my educational leadership skills to the Forestdale School.  As I look at the year ahead, I anticipate supporting the families and staff of Forestdale as we move forward in the reconfiguration of our schools.  I will work hard to keep the Forestdale culture positive  and will focus on the many wonderful things happening in the school community.   I want to emphasize the responsive classroom approach to foster positive behavior  in and out of the classroom.  I anticipate a very successful year as we partner together to support the academic, social and emotional development of Forestdale students.

I am glad to be back to where it all began for me.
