Getting to Know: Amy Reiber

Amy Reiber is well-known to the Oak Ridge Community as a substitute teacher, including some long-term positions.  Her family includes her husband Tom and children  Ben (4th grade,) Molly (6th grade,) and  Kate (9th grade. )  Her undergraduate degree is from Central Michigan University and she is currently enrolled in a Masters of Elementary Education program at Bridgewater State. And now we know she takes an adorable selfie!

Mrs. Reiber answered a few questions to help the SPS community get to know her even better!

What excites you about teaching in Sandwich?

I have the most excitement about the opportunity to experience the joy of making a difference and bringing the passion I have for teaching to the students of Sandwich.   I look forward to the many exciting changes taking place in our school district that will improve our students educational experience and I get to work with an amazing and dedicated staff here at Oak Ridge!

What is your favorite teaching memory from the past few years?

My favorite memory is after months of working with a struggling reader, the student said to me, “I AM a reader, I can do this!”

What is your favorite memory as a student?

My favorite memory as a student was being chosen as an exemplary student at Amerman Elementery School. I had a photo taken with Mr. and Mrs. Amerman and my name and picture was in the town paper.

What might we be surprised to know about you?

I love primitive antiques and I am teaching myself to play the acoustic guitar.
