Summer Reading Celebration - in gym

Oak Ridge Students were treated to a visit by Wally the Green Monster who helped celebrate their Summer Reading Accomplishments. Thanks to the Oak Ridge PTA for an exciting treat!

by Trish Hill, Principal – Oak Ridge

A great big thank you to the Oak Ridge PTA for supporting our 1st Annual Reading Celebration of Summer Reading.   Mrs. Mantenfel, Literacy Coach and Mrs. Durmis, Librarian,  put together a wonderful event that featured a surprise guest…  Wally the Green Monster, from the Boston Red Sox came to help us celebrate.  Students created beautiful artwork to highlight the event with the help of Mr. Mann.  Kids sang “Take Me Out to the Library” thanks to Mr. Healy, our Music Teacher.  Ms. Smith,  ourTechnology Integration Teacher, put together a Wally slideshow and treated kids to “Sweet Caroline”  that got the kids up and moving.  Thanks to our Physical Education Teachers Mrs. Goins and Mr. Murphy for hosting us all in the Gym.

Collectively, our students read 1,440 books over the summer!  So proud!
