Knights Theatre Company presents “Runaways!”

Runaways playbill
by Melinda and Kevin Lasit
We have a very talented group of 7th through 12th graders  working on our fall play – “Runaways,” by Elizabeth Swados. The performance is directed by Kevin Lasit, with music and vocal direction by Melinda Lasit, and technical direction by Chris Dumas and Elliot Sicard.  John Williams, music teacher in the district, will be playing guitar in the band as well.
This play was written in the late 1970’s, based off of poetry written by Elizabeth Swados and homeless teens in New York City. It’s a dramatic play full of beautiful, heartfelt monlogues, with music and songs, and a bit of humor speckled throughout the show.
The play has some strong issues that our students are so proud to bring to awareness. Our cast and crew along with the directorial team has made the decision to not only put on a beautiful show, but to do community outreach as well and give back to our own community to help people in need here on Cape Cod.
For the month of November, we will be collecting canned food and non-perishable food items for our local Sandwich Food Pantry. Each donation of food, will enter you into a raffle to win some amazing prizes such as gift certificates to local restaurants like: Surf’s Up, Marshland, Daniel Webster, and Roche Bros.  Please feel free to come by Sandwich High School and drop food donations by for Knight’s Theatre Company and we will enter your name into the raffle!
We are also partnering with StreetReach, a local organization in Hyannis that helps homeless and people in need all throughout Hyannis and Cape Cod.
Before the show starts, our actors will be walking around, like they are on the streets, asking for money or food in character.  All donations during this part of the show will be given to Street Reach of Hyannis.

Please come support these amazing, talented, young people that have put their hearts into this production.
Dates for the show are: Friday, November 21st at 7pm and Saturday, November 22nd at 2pm and 7pm
Tickets are being sold at the door and are $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for students and senior citizens.
Kevin Lasit has also produced and edited together a fantastic promo video of this show, and is attached here. We encourage readers to Sandwich Learns Together to spread the word and the attached video around to get people to come! It’s for a great cause, to support our very talented young people of Sandwich, and donate to people in need before the holiday season! It’s a Win Win!!
We would like families to know that the content of the play is mature, and might not be appropriate for young children.
