Santa’s House in Sandwich Thanks to the SFD – Starts Dec 9th

Local families are invited to a special opportunity to visit with Santa right here in Sandwich!  The Sandwich Professional Firefighters Santa’s House is open December 9th through the 12th from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at a new location – Heritage Part on Route 130.

Please plan on attending and bringing a toy for the “Toys for Tots” drive.   There will be hot chocolate and cookies for those attending.

Santa’s House has been a holiday tradition for the Sandwich Fire Department for the last 10 years.  Starting in 2004, the members of the Sandwich Fire Department assembled a small house at the Sandwich Library property and set up refreshments and opportunity to meet with Santa Claus and his elves.  A photograph would be taken with Santa free of charge  and the department also offered hay rides in the old 1948 open cab fire engine around Town Hall Square.

This year Santa’s House is moving to Heritage Park on Route 130, thanks to the approval and support of complex owner Thomas Tsakalos. This will allow more space for parking and encourage attendees to visit the various restaurants in the complex who are offering discounted meals for attendance and contribution of a toy at Santa’s House. There will be a new Santa’s House delivered and assembled that will remain on the property year round for continuous use each holiday season.

Those attending are encouraged to bring a toy for the Department’s “Toys for Tots” drive. The Sandwich Fire Department is in a competition with the Sandwich Police Department to see who can collect the most toys each year. The Fire Department wants to win!

There are also fire prevention and safety materials that are distributed. Santa’s House gives the community a way to meet its firefighters in a non-threatening situation, and is a wonderful opportunity for children to visit with their favorite jolly old gentleman from December 9th – 12th!
