Grant will help fund Robotics Club @ STEM Academy

A CLAWBOT

By Gil Newton

Congratulations to 7th grade engineering teacher Mrs. Ginger Lavelle who has received a grant from the Cape Cod Regional STEM Network for her popular Robotics Club in the STEM Academy.

Mrs. Lavelle uses resources from Project Lead the Way in both her classes and the club. Students will use Vexnet and Robot C technology to plan and build CLAWBOTS to solve an engineering problem. The students work in teams, design their robots, and test their results. From there they analyze each test and discuss revisions to improve their design.  This grant will allow her students to control their robots with wireless VEXnet technology.

Mrs. Lavelle has developed a very popular after school program that began last year with her ROV (remotely operated vehicle) club.   It is exciting to be able to provide further opportunities for our STEM Academy students to build robots, and we are grateful to the Cape Cod Regional STEM Network for their support.
