Celebrating Kathi Duffy and 30 years at SHS!

On Tuesday December 9th, the Town of Sandwich and the Sandwich Public Schools came together to honor their employees for their years of service. Dr. Ellin Booras, Principal at Sandwich High School, prepared these remarks about Mrs. Duffy

While admiring their hard earned diplomas, countless students in Sandwich will attribute their success to Kathi Duffy’s tenacity and patience.

A teacher for 30 years, Mrs. Duffy has prodded, cajoled, supported, and celebrated her students for three decades.

Whether in the Learning Center, serving as an inclusion specialist, or presenting at an IEP meeting, Mrs. Duffy is on top of her game. She not only knows her stuff, more importantly, she knows her students. She reads them well knowing when to push, when to pull, when to laugh and when to cry!

Mrs. Duffy never misses a graduation. At the ceremony’s end, watching her surrounded by grateful grads is a source of inspiration to all educators.

Mrs. Duffy is an eager contributor to school reform as a life long member of our Collaborative Design Team.  She is a veteran, a change agent and a star. She is first in to volunteer her time to help fill in any spaces whether it be on MCAS testing, after school events, or helping with sub coverage.

Kathi Duffy is a strong willed advocate who focuses on defining and responding to existing and emerging needs of students. We thank her for on thirty years of making a difference in the lives of students who need and deserve her strength.
