The Little Mermaid opens on Friday at Forestdale!
Little Mermaid will be performed for two weekends – May 1, 2, and 8, 9
7:30 at the Forestdale School in Forestdale, MA.
Admission is $5 at the door.
Forestdale’s Falcon Theatre Company (FTC) was started in 2002 with 13 students from grades 5th-8th, led by teacher Karen Slagle. FTC has presented several productions over the years such as: The Wonderful Wizard of OZ, Sleeping Beauty, Pocahontas, Twinderella, Seusical Jr., Annie, Jr, High School Musical, Jr., Beauty & the Beast, Jr., and now FTC is presenting its last musical on the Forestdale stage, The Little Mermaid, Jr.
The FTC casts have ranged from 16 5th-8th grade students to 92 5th-8th graders. This year’s musical has a cast of 50 1st-6th grade Forestdale students. The FTC mission is to produce shows that offer entertainment with a purpose….to give students an opportunity to learn from the characters they are portraying.
The Little Mermaid, Jr. is the Forestdale Falcon Theatre Company’s 13th and final musical due to the school’s re-districting. All FTC alumni, many of whom continued to participate in theater throughout their high school and college careers, are being invited to attend the last performance on May 9th. It should be an emotional evening for all.
