Elementary Teachers Gather to Learn Together

During the week of August 10th, over thirty teachers and administrators gathered for a professional development course as part of the district’s re-commitment to Responsive Classroom at Oak Ridge and Forestdale School.

Responsive Classroom  is a research and evidence-based approach to building academic and social-emotional strength in students. Sandwich teachers start the day with “Morning Meeting,” one of the many Responsive Classroom practices that help build community and set expectations for how to behave within the community.

This week, teachers who have been using Responsive Classroom for years worked alongside our brand new teachers to help build a powerful community of teachers as learners.
