Introducing Our New Superintendent

For those of you who I have not had the opportunity to meet yet, please let me introduce myself. My name is Pam Gould and I am very excited to be your new Interim Superintendent and look forward to officially starting Friday July 1 st .

My career in education began as a classroom teacher, teaching computer applications at the middle school level and then teaching high school business classes (accounting, business law, desktop publishing and computer applications) at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School. I continued at Whitman-Hanson as a high school assistant principal then principal. My next career move was to be principal at Franklin High School, which then led to the opportunity of being the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources for the Plymouth Schools District. Everything I have learned from each of these positions has given me the knowledge and confidence to take on the challenge leading your school district.

In the last month I have spent time in Sandwich attending school committee meetings, touring the schools, and meeting with individual members of the staff. I also just completed a wonderful two day retreat with your administrative team helping to plan the next school year and creating a vision for the next three to five years. This administrative team is an extremely dedicated group of people who want nothing but the best for the students of Sandwich. I will be honored to work with them as they continue with this planning.

Part of this administrative planning included discussions on how to improve on our methods of communication and how to get the message out effectively to the school community highlighting what Sandwich Public Schools has to offer its students. To that end you will notice a brand new Sandwich Public School website (still located at http://www.sandwich.k12.ma.us). You will also be introduced to a District run Facebook page in the near future, as well as a District Twitter and Instagram feed. It is my goal that these modules will offer you continuous information about what the students are doing within the District. The very popular Sandwich Learns Together will continue, as it has in the past, to be a strong platform for getting the message out about who we are as a school district.

The School District has spent the last few years working diligently to restructure. The students have been at the forefront of each decision and we will continue the focus on their instruction. Their success in school is the reason every one of the staff comes to work each day.

I will make this promise to the students, staff, and community…..EVERY decision I have to make in this position will always factor in the impact on students first. I believe that if we start with that in mind then each final decision will be the correct one. This steadfast belief has guided me through all of my administrative decision-making in the past and will continue to do so.

I am looking forward to getting to meet as many of you as possible over the coming months. I encourage students, parents, and community members to introduce yourself whenever you see me. It is important to me to get to know as many of the members, as possible, of this community.

In my mind this is the best way to learn the values of the community and to help continue the work done in the past to make the Sandwich Public Schools the best option for all of our students!
