Trick or Treating for a Cause

By Liam Kelly,

Through a coordinated effort, Oak Ridge students collected over $1200 while Trick or Treating as part of an annual fundraiser for the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund.  High school students (Danica Shores, Morgan Simmons and Paula Tanguilig) from the Sandwich UNICEF chapter from met with 5th and 6th grade student council members to distribute boxes, who in turn handed them out to homerooms at Oak Ridge.  All the students carried the small boxes and asked for donations during their normal Trick or Treat rounds on Halloween.  Oak Ridge teachers collected the boxes and SHS students tallied up over 50 lbs. of change.  It just goes to show, if everyone does a little, we can do a lot!
