Hello to the Sandwich Community!

by Beth Hebb, Assistant Principal – STEM Academy

My name is Elizabeth Hebb and I am the new Assistant Principal at Sandwich STEM Academy.  I am thrilled to be a part of the Sandwich School District and look forward to working with students, teachers, and parents.   I have enjoyed getting to know the faculty and staff at Sandwich STEM and everyone has been so friendly and kind.

I thought I would share a little about myself with you all.  I am originally from Arlington Massachusetts and graduated from Suffolk University in May of 2000.  Prior to my administrative career, I taught English at both the middle and high school levels.  Although I loved being in the classroom, I found I enjoyed the ability to reach out and take part in all levels of education through administration.  As an Assistant Principal I enjoy the collaboration and facilitation as I work with faculty and students alike.

My husband, son and I had been living in New Bern North Carolina and just recently moved back after eight years of being away! We missed our family and friends and wanted to return to our roots to settle down.  North Carolina was a beautiful state and I enjoyed our experiences there however,  there’s  no place like home!  We are thoroughly enjoying being back home in Massachusetts and taking in all the beautiful sights and sounds of the Cape.

While in North Carolina I obtained my Masters in School Leadership through the East Carolina University and then my E.d.s degree through the University of North Carolina Greensboro.  I plan to return to school to complete my doctorate in Educational Leadership and School Culture.   I believe we are all lifelong learners and I am always enthusiastic about challenging myself and establishing personal goals.

As we begin this school year I want to convey to faculty, students, and parents that I am invested in the education of all my students.  I feel my role is to facilitate, support and guide our students to becoming 21st century globally ready individuals.  My door is always open to students, staff and parents. The ability to all work together in the best interest of the students is going to be critical and is one of my top priorities.  As both a parent myself and an educator I realize how important it is to create a school environment that fosters learning in a safe and inviting environment.  As Assistant Principal my role is to ensure learning takes place.

I wish all good luck in the new school year and cannot wait continue to collaborate with everyone!  A big thank you to my new Sandwich School District family! Everyone I have had the pleasure of meeting has been so welcoming.  I truly appreciate it! Best of luck to all!
