Amazing Opportunities for SHS and STEM Students to SING Next Year!

Do You Love to Sing?

The Award-winning SHS Choir program is having  annual sign-ups and auditions for next year’s choirs 2015-2016 school year.

STEM 8th graders (incoming freshman for next year) and Grade 9-11 high school students are enthusiastically invited to get involved in a great community of singers who become friends.

Sandwich Singers – Gr 9-12 (A.K.A Chorus on your course schedule)  

• Chorus (or Sandwich Singers) is open to all students who enjoy singing and want the opportunity to achieve his or her vocal potential.  In Sandwich Singers, we perform all styles of music ranging from pop to rock, to jazz, to musical theatre, and classical! This choral group is a traditional style chorus, which stands on risers, but will incorporate minimal movement and choreography on the risers. Dedication to daily rehearsals will prepare the chorus to perform for our Winter and Spring concerts. Students may be required to attend a few extra after school rehearsals. To sign up for this great group, simply add it to your course schedule when you register. No Audition required.

Squire Choir – 7th and 8th grade Traditional Chorus (A.K.A. Chorus on your course schedule)

• Squire Choir is open to all 7^th and 8^th grade students who enjoy singing! We perform all styles of music in Squire Choir ranging from pop to rock, to jazz, to musical theatre, and classical! This choral group is a traditional style chorus, which stands on risers, but will incorporate minimal movement and choreography on the risers. Dedication to daily rehearsals will prepare the chorus to perform for our Winter and Spring concerts. Students may be required to attend a few extra after school rehearsals. To sign up for this great group, simply add it to your course schedule when you register. No audition required.

Musical Theatre Class  Grades 7-12  (A.K.A. Musical Theater on your course schedule)

• Musical Theatre is open to all students who enjoy singing, acting, dancing and performing. Music selections and theatrical scenes will be taken from various musical theatre including the classic musical theatre shows and contemporary shows. This course will also focus on dance and theatre technique as well; incorporating choreography, acting, stage presence, and performance skills to make a well-rounded dynamic performance. To sign up for this course, simply add it to your course schedule when you register. No audition required.

Sandwich Soul  – Grade 9-12 Advanced Show Choir – Honors – Audition required.

Also meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

This group will also go on tour next year!

Audition Schedule:

• Tuesday, January 27^th: Vocal Auditions: From 2:30pm to 5:30pm at SHS in the choir room – Room D155
• Wednesday, January 28^th: Vocal Auditions: From 2:30pm to 3:30pm at SHS in the choir room – Room D155
• Thursday, January 29^th: Vocal Auditions: From 2:30pm to 5:30pm at SHS in the choir room – Room D155
• *Thursday, January 29^th  – Dance Callbacks from 6:00pm to 8:30pm in the choir room. (If you are asked to come to the dance callback from the director, be prepared to stay the entire time and dress comfortably for dance!)

Prepare a song of your choice for the vocal auditions. You may use sheet music, a background track, or sing acapella. You do not have to stay for the entire Audition Time; you may leave after you audition.
