Dr. Booras Shares her thoughts about Retirement with the School Committee

Expression of Gratitude to Sandwich School Committee

by Dr. Ellin Booras

I would like to take a few minutes to thank you all.

I have always wanted to be a principal that met each student where he or she was in the moment, and accepted them for who they are and supported them to become who they were destined to be. My mantra has always been  that school should be life liberating and not life limiting.

My career as principal has been a journey of satisfaction and significant pride. I have enjoyed the freedom to create, the support to apply and to preserve the core values defining Sandwich High School, and the daily interactions with all members of the entire Sandwich community.

I am grateful to have worked with such a talented and dedicated staff.  The remarkable students who populate the halls, illuminate the classrooms, give 100% on the playing fields and fill the auditorium with song will forever humble and inspire me.  I am so proud of them. I have cherished the opportunity to know them, be present in their young lives, and to support them as they navigate the complexities of adolescence.

When I assumed the principalship 14 years ago, I had one primary goal, and that was to lead in a way that long after students graduate, and their own children ask them if they knew their principal, the answer would be yes

Thank you for your support over many years. It has been greatly appreciated. My service to Sandwich has been a distinct pleasure; one defined by Blue Knight Pride.

Sincerely,

Ellin Booras, Ed.D.

Principal

Sandwich High School/ STEM Academy
