As we welcome and introduce our new Principal, Jim Mulcahy, to the Sandwich Public Schools community, we are taking the opportunity to help everyone get to know the entire Administrative Team.

Jim Mulcahy, our new Principal, has lived in Sandwich with his wife Samantha and two children Jack, age 11 and Mia, age 10 since 2010.  The Mulcahy family is active in the community. Jim and Samantha both coach while Jack and Mia participate in the numerous youth sports that the town offers.  Jim has donated his time to the Oak Ridge School Council, while Samantha has volunteered through the Art History program for the elementary schools.

Mr. Mulcahy had served as the Principal of Silver Lake Regional High School since 2013.  Previously, he was the Assistant Principal of Silver Lake, the school he attended himself as a student growing up in Plympton.

As the new school year approaches, Mr. Mulcahy will be focused on providing a positive and welcoming school culture and climate for the students, staff, and families of Sandwich.  He has high expectations for himself and everyone involved in the education process and believes that’s where student success begins.

Mr. Mulcahy was interviewed last spring on WHDH-Live. Listen here: https://sandwichlearnstogether.org/2017/06/01/meet-the-new-shs-principal-jim-mulcahy/

Chip Hill, the returning STEM Academy Assistant Principal was well-known as an SHS faculty member teaching Earth and Science Science classes from 1994 to 2014. Mr. Hill was also a SHS AP for two years before shifting to the STEM Academy.

Mr. Hill and his wife Janie have lived in Sandwich since 1996. Mr. Hill’s sons, Steven and Ryan, are proud SHS graduates.

Mr. Hill is looking forward to assisting, informing, motivating, and supporting our grade 7 and grade 8 students throughout the school year.  Mr. Hill’s goal is to work with all members of the school community, including students, parents, faculty, and administration in creating a comfortable, organized, exciting, student-centered learning environment where each student will be continually challenged academically and through our extracurricular programs.

Josh Tarsky will be starting his second year as an Assistant Principal at SHS. Previous to his arrival in Sandwich, Mr. Tarsky taught English and English as a Second Language at the Humanities and Leadership Development High School in Lawrence, MA.  Mr. Tarsky is a graduate of Yale and Harvard University.  He is a US Army veteran who is continuing his service as an officer in the Massachusetts National Guard.  Mr. Tarsky and his wife Nancy have two children, Aviva and Elana.

In his second year, and as a member of the SHS Administrative Team, Mr. Tarsky is looking forward to supporting a culture of growth and high standards.

Anne Wagner has supported students, families and staff as the Assistant Principal of SHS since 2012.  Before coming to Sandwich, Mrs. Wagner was a Middle/High School ELA Curriculum Leader, an English Teacher and a Dean of Students.

Mrs. Wagner and her husband Bill live in Sandwich and have three grown children. Her daughter Laura is an instructor and doctoral candidate in Comparative Literature at UC Berkeley; her son John is an attorney at WilmerHale in Manhattan; and her daughter Hannah is a Humanities teacher at the Bay School in San Francisco.

Mrs. Wagner’s vision and goals for the 2017-2018 school year include nurturing an environment at Sandwich High School in which the individual voices of all students resonate through our classrooms, hallways, athletic arenas, artistic and musical endeavors, and extracurricular opportunities.

Neil Murphy has been the Administrator for Athletics at Sandwich HS & STEM Academy since July 2013. Prior to joining the administrative team in Sandwich, he enjoyed a 15-year career in the Harvard University Department of Athletics where he served in a number of roles including Assistant Director of Athletics.

Mr. Murphy and his wife, Amy, moved to Sandwich in July 2017 and have three children. Ryan, age 13, attends the STEM Academy. Quinn, age 11, attends the Oak Ridge School, and Eleanor, age 7, attends the Forestdale School.

As the Administrator for Athletics, Mr. Murphy believes that athletic participation is an extension of the classroom where youngsters at every grade level learn values and skills that help prepare them for the future. He also believes in providing broad-based athletic programming, interscholastic and instructional, that helps develop a sense of community pride in Sandwich High School & STEM Academy. Mr. Murphy’s goals for the 2017-2018 academic year include enhancements and improvements to the the strength & conditioning program and facility, launching a “Captains Council” for high school student-athletes, and continuing to explore programmatic opportunities that improve the overall athletic experience for our high school and STEM Academy population.

Superintendent Dr. Pam Gould is excited for the school year to begin, and believes the Administrative Team, under the leadership of Mr. Mulcahy, will help make SHS the school of choice for all Sandwich Students.
