Sandwich SOUL Shines at State Competition!

by Kevin and Melinda Lasit
On Friday May 22, Sandwich High’s School’s show choir, Sandwich SOUL, went to a choral competition in Holyoke, MA through Music in the Parks Music Festival.
The show choir has 34 members in the group, and this year we performed an 11 minute medley from the musical Lion King.  It is a great medley ranging from songs like “Circle of Life” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” to “I Just Can’t Wait to be King.”
andrew_15 This year Sandwich SOUL took home 1st place with a Superior Rating, and High school Junior, Andrew Sivco, won Best High School Soloist.  We were all so thrilled and proud of those awards, but then we were awarded one more award– BEST OVERALL HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL GROUP  out of all 8 other choral groups there at the competition!
We couldn’t be more proud of our show choir.  They truly worked hard this year and their amazing focus and discipline was even noted by one of the judges in their audio feedback.
The show choir is under choral direction by Melinda Lasit and the choreography and theatrical staging is by Kevin Lasit.
This is SANDWICH SOUL’s 4th year in existence.
Thank you for your continued support of the arts at SHS!
