Congratulations to new National Junior Honor Society Members!

On Thursday April 25th, a new group of students were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society at STEM Academy. This is the 2nd year of National Junior Honor Society in Sandwich, under the leadership of Nancy Horwood. Ms. Horwood is a grade 8 Mathematics and Algebra teacher.

Chip Hill, Assistant Principal of STEM Academy expressed his appreciation for all the STEM teachers for their work with students and for Ms. Horwood and her leadership of the National Junior Honor Society.  He extended a “special thank you to Nancy Horwood for a well-organized, sophisticated, meaningful, and enjoyable NJHS induction ceremony.”

Mr. Hill also shared with his faculty that “during all of my post-ceremony discussions with parents they were quick to praise the classroom experiences you have created and your dedication to student achievement as integral to their scholar’s success.”
We are so proud to have a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.  Sandwich Public Schools celebrates all the different ways our students distinguish themselves!

From the National Junior Honor Society’s website: “The National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929”.
