New Football and Cross-Country Coaches

The Sandwich High School department of athletics has announced the appointment of two fall sport varsity head coaches for the 2014 season.

Ken Perry, a nine-year cross country head coach at Cape Cod Academy (grades 7-12), will serve as the head coach for boys cross country at Sandwich High School this fall.

Ken served as an assistant outdoor track & field coach this past spring at Sandwich High School. He will coach alongside Lori Horan, the head coach for girls cross country. Ken is a business owner and avid runner, having run three marathons and 31 Falmouth Road Races.

Bill O’Connell, a nine-year football assistant at Coyle & Cassidy High School in Taunton, Mass., has been hired to serve as head football coach, physical education teacher, and chair of the health, wellness, and fine, applied, and theater arts department at Sandwich High School.

Bill played high school and college football and holds bachelors and masters degrees from Bridgewater State University. During his tenure at Coyle & Cassidy High School, Bill served as a co-offensive coordinator, a varsity assistant working primarily with receivers, running backs, and defensive backs, the junior varsity head coach, and the freshman head coach. He holds a number of certifications/licenses including MIAA Coaching, First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, Strength & Conditioning Certification, and Mass. DESE Principal/Asst. Principal License. Bill and his wife Ingrid have two daughters, ages 7 and 5, and reside in Dighton, Mass.
